Corporate Information
Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd (PERODUA), established in 1993, is a joint venture company between Malaysian and Japanese partners. The shareholders of Perodua are UMW Corporation Sdn Bhd with 38% stake, Daihatsu Motor Co. Ltd. (20%), MBM Resources Bhd (20%), PNB Equity Resources Corporation Sdn Bhd (10%), Mitsui & Co. Ltd (7%) and Daihatsu (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (5%).
The company started operations in 1994 and the ever so popular Perodua Kancil was introduced to the Malaysian market in August the same year. To date, the following vehicles have rolled out of the Perodua plant:

As of May 2008, Perodua has sold some 1.4 million units of vehicles of various models.
Perodua headquarters is located on an 81-hectare site in Sungai Choh, Rawang, Selangor Darul Ehsan. It houses among others Perodua corporate building, R&D testing laboratories and styling studio, vehicle test track, manufacturing plant, engine plant, pre-delivery inspection area, vehicle distribution stockyard and parts warehouse.
Perodua Auto Corporation Sdn Bhd (PCSB) was established in the final quarter of 2001. Besides Perodua, the two other joint venture partners of PCSB are Daihatsu Motor Co. Ltd. and Mitsui & Co. Ltd both of Japan. The manufacturing operations of the Perodua Group are being managed by PCSB.
The three active entities within the Group are:
Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd (PSSB) is responsible for the sales, marketing, and distribution of all Perodua vehicles as well as after sales service and spare parts operations.
Perodua Manufacturing Sdn Bhd (PMSB) is the company responsible for the manufacturing of Perodua vehicles.
Perodua Engine Manufacturing Sdn Bhd (PEMSB) undertakes the assembly of the vehicle engines and also manufacturing of selected engine component parts.
Workforce
The total number of manpower of Perodua was over 10,000 staff as of May 2008.
Production capacity
The plant currently has the capacity to produce 250,000 units per annum on 2-shift cycle.
Sales and service network
To date, PSSB has 39 sales branches and 140 sales dealers nationwide to serve its customers efficiently. It also has 41 service branches and 120 service outlets throughout Malaysia for customers’ convenience.
OverseasPerodua vehicles are sold in countries such as the UK, Singapore, Brunei, Fiji, Nepal and Sri Lanka.

Research and Development
Our R&D focuses on developing our capabilities in automotive technologies ranging from basic testing, design and styling engineering to manufacturing engineering skills. The activities include styling / modelling, concept car development and the ability to undertake major facelifts.
Perodua has invested substantially amount in manpower and IT sofware for its R&D activities.
The main activities of the R&D are localisation of car parts and components, styling and modeling of future models and facelifts of current product range. Other R&D facilities are the chamber, engine test lab and test course.
Localisation Activities
The manufacturing capabilities of PERODUA and local Malaysian component manufacturers have resulted in achieving 75 LMCP (Local material component points) in the manufacturing of the Kancil i.e. an optimal level for localisation given economies of scale requirements.

Training
At PERODUA, we believe in constantly motivating and developing our work force. As we continue to grow, one of the strategies to remain focused on achiving our corporate goals is by having competent and qualified employees. We have carefully tailored our training programmes to suit the organization and employee needs.
For junior technical entry level technical employees, we provide the
Perodua Technical Education System (PTES) that is designed to fulfill our needs in terms of competent employees with basic automotive knowledge. This program is tied in with the national
MLVK (Majlis Latihan Vokasional Kebangsaan – National Vocational Training Council) qualification, whereby PTES is one of the approved training centres.
We also conduct special programmes such as the
Perodua Youth Training Programme (PYTP) for school leavers (SPM) who are recruited and trained in-house until they qualify to MLVK Level 1. The PYTP program is carried out annually as part of PERODUA’s initiative to support society at large by aiding and enabling young people to gain valuable knowledge and skills that increase their chances of employment.
